The Discipline Disparities Research to Practice Collaborative has released its latest paper in the Discipline Disparities Series entitled, “You Can’t Fix What You Don’t Look At: Acknowledging Race in Addressing Racial Discipline Disparities.”  Researchers Prudence Carter, Russell Skiba, Mariella Arredondo and Mica Pollack highlight how our interactions across racial lines continue to yield differential outcomes in school discipline, with devastating consequences for many youth of color.  Instead of avoiding the topic, the briefing paper suggests providing schools specific recommendations that address difficulties in tackling the racial dynamics in discipline disparities.
