How to Get to Ghent
There are two international airports in Belgium:
- Brussels Airport: serves most regular airlines. In Brussels Airport you can take a direct train to Gent-Sint- Pieters (the main railway station of Ghent).
- Charleroi Airport (also called Brussels-South Airport): serves mostly low-cost airlines (like Ryan Air), This airport is not recommended. In Charleroi Airport you can take the shuttle bus to Brussels Zuid/Midi railway station (a 45 minute ride), which runs every 30 minutes. There you can take a direct train to Gent-Sint- Pieters (the main railway station of Ghent).
NOTE: Pay attention that you take a train with final destination De Panne, Oostende or Knokke-Blankenberge; these will take you to Ghent in less than an hour. There is one other train to Ghent that will take at least one hour and a half, so you might want to ask whether the train you take is a good one. http://www.railtime.be/website/home-en will always give you the best options.
When arriving in Ghent you can take the tram or a taxi. Tram 1 will take you right in front of the conference venue in about 15 minutes, get off at Korte Meer.
