About the Event
The Speaking of Education Lectures at the UCLA Graduate School of Education & Information Studies continue with Gary Orfield and Lorrie Frasure-Yokley discussing their new book, “The Resegregation of Suburban Schools: A Hidden Crisis in American Education.” Looking at patterns of demographic change occuring in suburbs across the U.S., the speakers will highlight the scale of demographic change, the uneven response of suburban school systems, and policy changes for the future.
About the Book
“The Resegregation of Suburban Schools: A Hidden Crisis in American Education”discusses how the locus of racial and
ethnic transformation is now suburban. It considers what kinds of strategies school
officials and community leaders can pursue to improve opportunities for sub- urban low-income students and students of color, and ways to address the challenges associated with demographic change. This book will be available for sale at the event.
